Perform a horizontal pulling motion using a suspension trainer to draw your torso toward the handles, emphasizing the upper back muscles.
How to do the Low Row (Suspension)#
- Set the suspension straps low and grasp the handles with a neutral grip; walk your feet forward so your body leans back and your arms are fully extended.
- Hold a straight body line from head to heels and brace your core.
- Initiate the movement by retracting your shoulder blades and pulling your chest toward the handles, bending at the elbows.
- Pause briefly at the top while squeezing the upper back.
- Lower yourself back to the starting position with controlled motion.
Muscles worked#
- Primary: Upper back, Lats
- Secondary: Biceps, Rear delts, Forearms, Abs
Common mistakes#
- Pulling mainly with the arms instead of starting with the shoulder blades.
- Allowing the hips to sag or lift, breaking the straight body line.
- Shrugging the shoulders toward the ears during the pull.
- Using momentum instead of controlled pulling and lowering.
