From a high plank, alternately lift one hand to touch the opposite shoulder; the movement primarily challenges the shoulder muscles while the core holds the torso steady.
How to do the Shoulder Taps#
- Assume a high-plank position with hands beneath shoulders, legs straight, and feet about hip- to shoulder-width apart.
- Brace your core and keep your hips level to prevent twisting.
- Lift one hand and tap the opposite shoulder while keeping your torso as still as possible.
- Place the hand back down and immediately lift the other hand to tap the opposite shoulder.
- Maintain a controlled tempo and breathe evenly throughout the set.
Muscles worked#
Common mistakes#
- Allowing the hips to rotate toward the reaching side.
- Letting the hips sag or rise and breaking plank alignment.
- Reaching with the arm while shifting the whole body instead of isolating the hand movement.
- Moving too fast and losing control of core stability.
