Lean into suspension straps and extend your elbows to straighten your arms, placing primary load on the triceps. The movement keeps your body aligned while the elbows act as the main hinge.
How to do the Triceps Extension (Suspension)#
- Grip the handles and step forward until the straps are taut with your weight supported by your hands.
- Brace your core and align your body from head to heels with your arms extended in front of you.
- Bend only at the elbows to lower your body toward the handles, keeping your upper arms fixed and shoulders stable.
- Drive through the elbows to straighten your arms and return to the starting position with control, squeezing the triceps at the top.
Muscles worked#
- Primary: Triceps
- Secondary: Abs, Front delts
Common mistakes#
- Letting the elbows flare away from the body.
- Allowing the hips to sag or lift out of alignment.
- Using body momentum instead of controlled elbow movement.
- Shrugging the shoulders and recruiting the traps instead of the triceps.
