Press a kettlebell from shoulder-height to full arm extension overhead, focusing on the deltoid (shoulder) muscles. Maintain a braced core and steady posture throughout the movement.
How to do the Shoulder Press (Kettlebell)#
- Stand with feet about hip-width apart and hold the kettlebell in the rack position at shoulder level.
- Brace your core and keep a neutral spine and stable ribcage.
- Drive the kettlebell straight up until your arm is fully extended overhead.
- Lower the kettlebell under control back to the rack position.
- Repeat for the desired number of reps while keeping the shoulder engaged and the body steady.
Muscles worked#
- Primary: Front delts, Side delts, Triceps
- Secondary: Traps, Upper back, Abs
Common mistakes#
- Allowing the lower back to overarch during the press.
- Pushing the kettlebell forward instead of pressing vertically.
- Letting the wrist collapse backward under the load.
- Using excessive leg drive or body momentum to move the weight.
