A seated single-arm overhead press performed from the floor that drives a kettlebell upward to work the shoulder (deltoid) muscles and their stabilizers.
How to do the Z Press (Kettlebell)#
- Sit on the floor with your legs straight in front of you and your torso tall.
- Hold the kettlebell at shoulder level with a firm grip and the weight near your forearm.
- Brace your core and keep your spine neutral to prevent lower-back arching.
- Press the kettlebell straight overhead until your arm is fully extended.
- Lower the kettlebell back to shoulder height with control and repeat for the desired reps.
Muscles worked#
- Primary: Front delts, Side delts
- Secondary: Triceps, Traps, Abs, Upper back
Common mistakes#
- Leaning backward or arching the lower back while pressing.
- Using momentum or pushing with the hips instead of pressing with the shoulder.
- Letting the wrist collapse or the kettlebell drift forward.
- Lowering the weight too quickly without control.
