Perform repeated turns and weight shifts while riding downhill to produce sustained aerobic effort and challenge cardiovascular fitness. The movement relies on dynamic balance and continuous lower-body control to maintain momentum.
How to do the Snowboarding#
- Stand sideways with your feet about shoulder-width apart, knees slightly bent and your weight centered over the board.
- Turn your torso and look in the direction you want to go, keeping your shoulders aligned with the board.
- Initiate turns by shifting weight between your toes and heels and angling the board’s edge with your knees and hips.
- Maintain a low, flexible stance and keep your movements smooth and rhythmic to control speed.
- Use your legs to absorb bumps and adjust pressure steadily to link turns and sustain continuous effort.
Muscles worked#
Common mistakes#
- Standing too upright and locking the knees.
- Looking down instead of toward the direction of travel.
- Leaning back excessively, which hinders edge control.
- Stiffening the legs instead of using them to absorb terrain.
