Gript has three ways to track bodyweight movements, depending on whether you add load, get assistance, or do neither.
Reps Only
Plain bodyweight work — push-ups, sit-ups, lunges. You log reps and nothing else. Progress shows up in rep-based charts like Max Reps and Total Reps.
Weighted Bodyweight
Bodyweight movements with added load — weighted pull-ups, weighted dips. You log the added weight (the plate on the belt, the vest) and reps. A pull-up with a 20 kg plate is logged as 20 kg, and the set's volume is calculated from that added weight.
Assisted Bodyweight
Bodyweight movements with help — assisted pull-up machines, band-assisted dips. You log the assistance weight and reps. Progress means that number going down: dropping from 30 kg of assistance to 15 kg is a strength gain, and Gript treats it that way in your history.
Which one to pick
- No equipment involved → Reps Only
- You add weight → Weighted Bodyweight
- The machine or band helps you → Assisted Bodyweight
The library assigns these types to built-in exercises already, so this mostly matters when creating a custom exercise. See all exercise types for the full picture.
