Kneel on the machine and rotate your torso against the lever to work the abdominals through a controlled trunk twist. The movement emphasizes core rotation while the chest pad provides a fixed pivot point.
How to do the Torso Rotation (Machine)#
- Raise or lower the chest pad so it rests across the middle of your chest when you kneel on the platform.
- Kneel on the platform, grasp the handles, and tighten your core to lock your torso in position.
- Keep your lower body still and turn your shoulders and chest toward one side until you reach a comfortable end range.
- Slowly return to center under control and repeat for the prescribed reps, then adjust for the opposite direction if needed.
Muscles worked#
- Primary: Obliques
- Secondary: Abs, Lower back
Common mistakes#
- Setting the pad too high or too low so the pivot point is off.
- Pulling primarily with the arms instead of rotating the torso.
- Allowing the hips or lower body to rotate with the chest.
- Using momentum or jerky motions instead of a controlled turn.
- Failing to return slowly to the neutral position.
