A horizontal pressing movement performed on suspended rings that mainly works the chest through a controlled push-up motion.
How to do the Push Up (Ring)#
- Grasp a ring in each hand and extend your arms so your body forms a straight line from head to heels.
- Brace your core and hold your shoulders stable to minimize unwanted ring movement.
- Bend your elbows and lower your chest toward the rings in a controlled manner.
- Pause briefly with chest near the rings, then push back up until your arms are straight.
- Keep the rings steady throughout the move and maintain a rigid torso until the set is complete.
Muscles worked#
- Primary: Chest
- Secondary: Triceps, Front delts, Abs
Common mistakes#
- Allowing the hips to sag or lift out of a straight line.
- Flaring the elbows excessively outward.
- Letting the rings swing or rotate uncontrolled.
- Stopping short of bringing the chest close to the rings.
- Shrugging the shoulders toward the ears during the descent.
