Perform elbow flexion with an overhand barbell grip, emphasizing the forearms and brachioradialis as the primary movers.
How to do the Reverse Curl (Barbell)#
- Stand upright and grip the barbell with an overhand (pronated) grip about shoulder-width apart.
- Tuck your elbows close to your sides and keep your torso still.
- Bend your elbows to curl the bar upward, keeping the upper arms pinned, until the forearms finish near vertical.
- Lower the bar under control until your arms are fully extended and repeat.
Muscles worked#
Common mistakes#
- Bending the wrists, which shifts load away from the forearms.
- Using body swing or momentum to lift the bar.
- Allowing the elbows to move forward away from the torso.
- Choosing too heavy a load and performing partial, rushed reps.
