Stand facing a low cable and curl the handle with an overhand (pronated) grip, flexing at the elbows. The action primarily works the brachioradialis and other forearm muscles.
How to do the Reverse Curl (Cable)#
- Set the low pulley and grasp the cable handle or bar with a pronated (overhand) grip, arms fully extended and elbows close to your sides.
- Stand tall with a braced core and feet about hip-width apart.
- Curl the handle toward your shoulders by bending only at the elbows, keeping your upper arms stationary.
- Pause briefly at the top with a firm contraction in the forearms.
- Lower the handle under control back to full elbow extension without letting the wrists collapse.
Muscles worked#
Common mistakes#
- Bending the wrists instead of keeping them neutral.
- Using torso momentum or swinging to lift the weight.
- Letting the elbows drift forward away from the sides.
- Picking a weight that causes jerking instead of controlled reps.
