Lie on your back and perform alternating low leg lifts that cross over each other, using the abdominals to control the movement. Keep the motion steady and continuous to maintain core engagement.
How to do the Scissor Kicks#
- Lie flat on your back with your legs extended and your arms resting beside you.
- Lift both legs a few inches off the floor and brace your core.
- Lower one leg toward the floor while raising the other, crossing them over in a controlled scissor motion.
- Keep the lower back pressed to the floor and breathe steadily as you alternate legs.
- Continue alternating without letting your feet rest on the ground until the set is complete.
Muscles worked#
- Primary: Abs, Hip flexors
- Secondary: Obliques
Common mistakes#
- Allowing the lower back to arch and lift off the floor.
- Moving the legs with momentum instead of control.
- Tensing or lifting the neck and shoulders.
- Letting the feet touch the ground between repetitions.
