Jump Shrug (Barbell)

Explosively extend the hips and knees to jump while shrugging a loaded barbell, emphasizing leg power and drive.

How to do the Jump Shrug (Barbell)#

  1. Stand with the bar over your mid-foot and your feet about hip-width apart.
  2. Hinge at the hips and bend the knees to grip the bar slightly wider than shoulder-width while keeping your torso rigid.
  3. Drive through your legs to extend hips and knees and pull the bar upward.
  4. When the bar passes mid-thigh, jump vertically and forcefully shrug the bar with your shoulders.
  5. Land softly with bent knees and lower the bar back to the floor under control by reversing the motion.
