Perform a single-arm cable elbow extension by pushing the handle across your torso; the movement primarily works the triceps through elbow extension.
How to do the Cross Body Triceps Extension (Cable)#
- Stand perpendicular to the cable machine and grasp the handle with the working hand so the cable crosses your body.
- Keep your upper arm stationary and tucked close to your side or slightly across the torso.
- Extend your forearm by straightening the elbow until the arm is nearly locked out.
- Pause briefly at full extension, then control the return by bending the elbow back to the start position.
- Maintain a neutral wrist and a stable, upright torso throughout the movement.
Muscles worked#
Common mistakes#
- Letting the elbow swing away from its fixed position.
- Driving the movement with the shoulder or torso instead of the elbow.
- Using excessive momentum instead of controlled reps.
- Allowing the wrist to bend during the press.
